News Flash: I'm Not A Traditional Journalist

This morning I woke up to my email barrage and found another person/company/robot sending me their press release. They think that I’ll write about their company because I received a press release from them.
Now, I don’t have 20,000 people hanging on every word that comes out of my digital (or analog) mouth. But, I still hate it when people waste my time. It’s still valuable, at least to me and my clients. Which is why I’m going to tell you right now… don’t send me press releases.
Here was my response to “Lindsey” (at least she used a real person’s name):
Lindsey,
Seriously, sending press releases like this to people like me are not only ineffective, but impersonal and pretty much just an insult. I find it my duty to tell you this because I want you and your company to be better because of the education. I want you to succeed. But, honestly, don’t be surprised if the majority of people you send this to just hit delete and never respond or write about your company.
